I'll start by saying that photography has always been an interest of mine. I found all the gear fascinating and wanted to someday learn all the buttons on a camera. Because of life's endeavors, photography was always on the backburner as something I wanted to do in the future.
In 2005, I was fortunate to meet a professional photographer through my work in law enforcement and we became good friends. In 2012 I was transferred to the crime scene unit, where my focused photography training began. I soon realized that photography goes much deeper that just learning and pushing camera buttons. A great photo is more complicated than just taking a snapshot. I quickly realized that proper lighting was the gateway from a snapshot to creative art. This sparked my interest to study photography even more.
I began my photography journey by taking photos of my kids, reading books, researching the internet, bugging the heck out of my friend for advice, you name it, and practice, practice, practice. I was my worst critic. I’d dissect each photo to better the next.
